WARNING - PLEASE READ BEFOREUPGRADE:

The uploaded firmware file may not be correct. You may have uploaded a file that is not intended for this device, or the uploaded file may be corrupted. If the uploaded file is correct, it is possible that the device may be too busy to properly receive it right now. When I try to upgrade to firmware V1.0.2.16 from V1.0.2.8 with webrowser, it keeps give me message 'firmware is invalid'. How do I upgrade to the new firmware? Model: R6900 Nighthawk AC1900 Smart WiFi Router.

Upgrading firmware (in most cases) will reset all settings backto defaults. This includes the login passwords, the IP address andInternet connection settings provided by your ISP. Please ensureyou have backed this information up before proceeding.

We recommend performing a reset to factory defaults after anyfirmware upgrade to avoid conflicts with prior configurations.

Netgear N600 Wireless Router Upgrade

Do NOT upgrade firmware from a computerconnected wirelessly. Use a computer that connects to the routerusing an Ethernet cable. You may cause the router to becomeinoperable due to the wireless connection dropping while theupgrade is in process.

To upgrade the firmware of your router, you will first need todownload the required files from the D-Link Support page for thisrouter. After saving it to a local storage device (e.g. harddrive),you will have to unzip the file.

Once this is done, log in to the web configuration interface, goto the TOOLS or MAINTENANCE tab and click on the UPDATE FIRMWARE button on theleft-hand side. Click on Browse, browse to andselect the file that you saved before, then click on Update Firmware or Firmware.

The router will then copy the new firmware into its memory andperform the update, after which it will reboot. This will takeapproximately three minutes.

I am newbie at this, please be gentle.
The following is what I have done:
1. dd-wrt.v24_std-wndr3300.chk.
2. Hard reset the router
3. Logged in using 192.186.1.1, click on firmware upgrade
4. Supply the file dd-wrt.v24_std-wndr3300.chk
5. click 'Upload'
6. It gave me a 'Invalid file Name' error message.
I even tried to download the official firmware from netgear.com, and I would get the same error.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

more problems......
After I flashed it, the green power light keeps on flashing. Which means the flash went bad?
What to do now?

You shouldn't flash the full version of DD-WRT on this router, it's slightly too large for the flash RAM. Use a 'mini' version instead.

dd-wrt.v24_std-wndr3300.chk is too large?
I thought that is the recommended one.

You should really start a new thread, especially since its a different router. Its generally best to start with the trailed build from your model's wiki page. As for failing to flash, make sure the option to reset during the flash is 'Don't Reset', and failing that, try renaming the file to .bin or .trx. I presume you've already carefully read the Peacock announcement.
